Every year we work with couples from different countries, different backgrounds, different visions — and yet a few threads always emerge. Certain ideas are in the air. Certain aesthetics rise. Here is what we are seeing in 2026, and why some of it will outlast any trend cycle.
What’s New
Micro-Weddings with Maximum Intention
The pandemic gave couples permission to go small, and many discovered they preferred it. In 2026, the micro-wedding — typically 20 to 40 guests — has matured into its own art form. With fewer people, every detail gets more attention. The florals are more abundant. The menu is more considered. The photography has room to breathe.
We are designing micro-weddings in Costa Rica that feel more like exclusive house parties hosted by a very stylish couple than formal events. The result is invariably warmer, more personal, and more memorable.
Florals That Tell a Story
Gone are the uniform centerpieces. Couples in 2026 are asking for florals that feel foraged, intentional, and specific to the setting. In our Caribbean venues, that means anthuriums, heliconias, and bird-of-paradise. In the mountain estates of Escazú, it means lush greenery with warm accents — marigolds, dahlias, and textured foliage.
The question we now ask every client is: what should your flowers say about you?
The Private Welcome Dinner
The welcome dinner has graduated from casual gathering to main event. Couples are investing in an intimate dinner the night before the wedding — often just immediate family and the wedding party — as a way to arrive fully present at the ceremony. We design these as separate experiences, each with their own aesthetic and menu, so the wedding weekend tells a story across multiple chapters.
Non-Traditional Ceremony Timing
Sunset ceremonies remain popular, but we are seeing a quiet resurgence of morning weddings. There is something extraordinarily beautiful about a ceremony at 9am, when the light is soft, the air is cool, and the day stretches ahead of you. Breakfast receptions that follow are among the most joyful events we have ever produced.
What’s Timeless
Candlelight
Every year we think candlelight might finally feel overdone. Every year it does not. There is no technology that competes with an open flame for warmth, romance, and the sensation that this moment is sacred. We will never stop designing by candlelight.
Live Music
Playlists are fine. A live musician is an experience. Whether it is a single classical guitarist during the ceremony or a full band for the reception, live music changes the energy of a room in ways that even the best sound system cannot replicate.
Writing Your Own Vows
The couples who write their own vows always tell us it was the best decision they made. Not the flowers, not the venue — the vows. The words you choose for each other, in front of the people you love, never stop mattering. We always encourage it.
